Consultation length in Roseville: 15–60 minutes, and how to get more out of it
By Lotus Beauty Collective | September 5, 2026
If you’ve ever left an appointment feeling “so stoked” because your cut was gorgeous and your hair felt smoother, softer, and shinier right away, you already get why a solid plan matters. In our Roseville studio, a Consultation appointment typically runs 15–60 minutes. Quick follow-ups usually take 15–20 minutes, a standard first-time assessment tends to land in the 30–45 minute range, and complex plans can take up to 60 minutes when we’re mapping out multiple services like color, blonding, extensions, or smoothing.
The point of our Consultation: you leave with a clear next step for your hair, not a vague idea. We use the time to connect your goal (color, blonding, extensions, smoothing) to your real life and what your hair can handle right now.
The real timeline: 15–20, 30–45, or 45–60 minutes (and what changes it)
If you’re coming in for a quick check-in after a recent service, we can usually handle it in 15–20 minutes. That’s enough time to confirm we’re on track, tweak your plan, or decide the next appointment’s service and timing.
Most first-time Consultations land around 30–45 minutes. That gives us room to talk through your inspiration photos, what you’ve loved and hated before, and what your hair does day-to-day. It’s also where our attention to detail shows up. A lot of people tell us they felt listened to and that the final result “exceeded my expectations, ” and that starts here, not in the middle of the service.
We’ll stretch closer to 45–60 minutes when the plan is more complex. Examples: major blonding changes, a first-time extension conversation, smoothing questions, or a situation where you’re not sure what you want and you need us to guide you through options until it feels like you. And yes, living in Roseville matters too. Sun exposure, warm weather, and even water quality can affect how your color holds and how dry your ends feel, so we build that into your plan.
What makes a consult faster: you’ve got a clear goal, you bring a couple photos, and we’re doing one service (like a haircut refresh or a simple color direction).
What makes a consult longer: multiple services, a big correction, lots of past color history, or you want a plan that fits a busy schedule (parents and commuters, we see you).
How to extend your Consultation so one visit covers more ground
A 15-minute Consultation is short on purpose. We keep it tight so you can get answers fast, then move into the right service on your next visit. But you can still get a ton of value if you come in prepared and you leave with a plan you’ll actually follow.
Bring these 5 things and we’ll get clearer, faster
- 2–4 inspiration photos plus one “nope” photo. That contrast saves time.
- Your hair history: box dye, salon color, smoothing, extension removals, major heat styling habits.
- Your real routine: how often you wash, how much time you’ll style, and what you’re willing to do at home.
- A quick list of products you use (a photo of the bottles is perfect).
- Your top 3 questions. Keep it simple. We’ll answer them directly.
Little follow-up moves that make your plan last weeks, not days
Here’s what works in real life, especially if you’re balancing school drop-offs, work, and the I-80 or Highway 65 commute.
- Ask us to write your plan down. Service name, timing, and the “why.” That way you don’t forget the details once you’re back in the car.
- Take a quick photo in natural light right after your service (or even after the consult if we’re comparing current color). It helps us stay consistent next time.
- If you’re on the fence, schedule a short check-in consult. A fast follow-up can save you from booking the wrong service.
- Commit to the first two at-home steps only. If your hair needs moisture or bond support, we’ll pick the priorities so you’re not buying five things you won’t use.
- Tell us what you noticed after a week. Was it still shiny? Did your curls behave? Did the tone shift in the sun? That feedback makes the next appointment tighter.
“She helps guide me through options and different visions, and the result is always gorgeous and feels like me.”

Why your plan falls apart early (and the easy fixes we see every week)
Most early problems aren’t “bad hair.” They’re mismatch problems. Your inspo photo doesn’t match your maintenance level. Or your product lineup fights your goal. Or you’re washing with super hot water, heat styling hard, and wondering why your ends feel rough again.
Roseville sun can also pull warmth in color faster than you expect, especially if you’re outside a lot. If we’re planning blonding, smoothing, or extensions, we’ll talk about that up front so you don’t feel like you’re constantly playing catch-up.
Quick win: If you can only change one thing, protect your hair on wash day and heat day. That’s usually where people lose softness and shine first.
When to rebook your next Consultation (so you stay ahead, not behind)
If you’re using a Consultation to map out color, blonding, extensions, or smoothing, we usually recommend a quick follow-up consult when something changes, not on a strict calendar. Think: you want bangs, your hair texture shifts, your routine changes, or you’re ready to go lighter after months of playing it safe.
For a lot of our regulars, the real “maintenance” is staying in communication so we can keep your look working as it grows out. People come back because they trust that we’ll listen, suggest options that fit their face shape and lifestyle, and keep the whole thing from feeling overwhelming.
We’re right in Downtown Roseville near Vernon Street Town Square and Old Town, so it’s easy to pair a consult with errands. And if you’re coming from Rocklin, Granite Bay, Antelope, Citrus Heights, Loomis, or Lincoln, we keep evening and weekend options available so you’re not trying to squeeze this into the middle of your workday.
Want us to build your plan in one visit? Book a Consultation and come with 2–4 photos, your hair history, and your top questions. We’ll map out the next appointment so you know exactly what you’re doing and why.
